The Evil Within 2 looks more Silent Hill than ever

Silent Hill is the best horror sequence at any time to appear on consoles (will not @ me), so it’s no surprise that – at minimum in its newest trailer – The Evil Inside 2 is borrowing seriously from the classics.

Male with a big sword and a unusual mask? Look at. Religious undertones? A gentleman hunting for his daughter? Streets crumbling to block your route? Look at checkity-check. Even the siren that performs in the opening seconds brings again memories of 1999 and Konami’s survival horror hit.

Of program, staying when compared to the typical horror video game can’t hurt, and it could just be some intelligent trailer trickery that is tickled our nostalgia gland. Just after all, The Evil Inside 2 is in fact the get the job done of Shinji Mikami, director of the Resident Evil game titles. You know, that other iconic Japanese horror sequence.

“Some individuals love to go into a haunted property,” Mikami instructed us at QuakeCon 2017. “Other individuals might get a thrill from riding a roller coaster. I love having into horror game titles. That’s how I am. What I will not like the most are ferris wheels. They are actually frightening – ‘no thank you’ to that.”

This sequel will see you returning to the footwear of dad detective Sebastian Castellanos, who’s forced to enter an alternate entire world. A single created from his daughter’s brain. Who might or might not be lifeless. There is certainly also a creepy priest, a murderous war photographer, a shady megacorporation referred to as Mobius, and from the look of the trailer, a small zombie apocalypse. Did we point out the masked male with the enormous sword? You could want to take notes.

The Evil Inside 2 will be launched on October 13 for PS4, Xbox A single and Laptop.
